Ooooh my first blog post, how exciting!
I'm sure it's fine once you get into the swing of things, but i have to say that starting anything new is always kinda intimidating for me.
So on to the big question, why am i blogging? Fame, fortune and the chance of a book deal? Nah, i just fancied putting into words why I'm passionate about my two great loves......books and food!
I'm also challenging myself to cook something inspired by whatever book I've just read. I can't be the only person out there who reads for example a book set in India and craves curry for weeks afterwards?
This will also have the added benefit of making me slow down whilst I'm reading. I have a terrible habit of ploughing through a book and afterwards i know that i loved it or hated it and not being able to explain why.
I got the idea for this blog after getting the book club cookbook http://www.amazon.co.uk/Book-Club-Cookbook-Recipes-Favorite/dp/158542322X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1278064354&sr=1-1-spell and i plan to read these books and cook the recipes for this blog.
My next post is going to be a review of The Age of Innocence and a recipe for cupcakes inspired by the said book!

Welcome to the wonderful world of blogging. There are so many lovely things in this world, and it will be lovely to hear another voice. The Age of Innocence is one of my favourite books, so I shall be very interested to read your thought.
ReplyDeleteawww, thanks very much! Lovely to hear from you. Can't wait to have many satisfying converstions about shared books with you.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic book linking book club reading and baking! I blog about Virago Modern Classics on one blog, so was fascinated to see your Wharton review, and my other blog features quite a lot of baking so I look forward to seeing your posts!
ReplyDeletewhat a wonderful virago blog you have Verity! you seem to own alot of the viragos that i'm stil missing you lucky lady. One of my challenges is actually going to be reading and re-reading my virago collection as I now own several hundred. I'm hoping to give a cupcake recipe at the end of each book along with a cookbook review each month. Thank for the encouraging comments and watch this space for more book and food related malarky.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea for a blog! Best wishes on your new adventure.
